前言:

自大学英语举行全国四、六级考试以来,我国大学英语教学水平较之前有了很大程度的提高。然而通过对教学和考试结果的分析,与阅读和听力能力相比,学生的写作能力普遍落后并与其阅读能力和词汇量不相匹配。在阅读和词汇量充足的情况下,学生们仍然对英语写作有生涩之感,究其原因,主要还是练习过少和写作技巧的缺乏。

在英语短文写作中,高分标准一般为:切合主题,内容表达全面,表意清晰,字句连贯;句式使用相对灵活,结构和用词准确。

一、 内容切合主题

作为命题作文最基本的要求,内容切题是评价作文质量的主要标准,学生应注意以下几个方面:

(一)认真审题

认真审题,明白题目的含义,才能真正选取合适的材料和例子对文章观点进行正确阐述,这样不仅能够有条理地对文章进行组织以体现其完整性,也更容易让学生做到扣题写作。以题目类别为依据,选择所要求的正确文体,并对文章种类进行判别,进而对文章所要阐明的主题进行确定;在题目已经提供了提纲的情况下,要注意对各提纲之间的逻辑关系进行梳理。

(二)注意对段落安排的设计。

以文章中心思想为依据,将各段落的主要内容和主题句子确定下来。在议论文体中,要考虑正反两方面的论点,首先对该论点的合理性或优势进行分析,然后展开对其缺陷性或劣势的讨论,在结尾对自己的想法予以阐明。在有提纲的情况下,可直接将提纲进一步扩展为主题句段。

二、 保持文字连贯,组段为章

段落是作文的基本单位,是将一组关联句子围绕一个中心思想的展开。中心思想则蕴含在主题句中,而主题句通常处于段落的开始部分,有时也会在段中或者末尾。它所包含的主导思想对段落内容加以约束,使其表现在主题的某一个具体方面。段落中的其他句子都服务于主题句,围绕其展开并对其进行辅助说明;当对细节的描述完成之后,有关于主题的结论就明确得出,这个结论就是终结句,它负责对整个段落加以总结和概括。

好的文章不仅要求内容切合主题,在语义连贯、层次分明和结构严谨方面也有更多的要求。统一性和连贯性是一个出色的段落不可或缺的两大要素。统一是内容的统一,连贯则针对于表达形式。统一性是一个好段落的重要特点,在这个段落中,每个句子都能对主题句的指导思想进行证实,即主要论点必须在所有句子中都有所体现,统一性使句子更容易被阅读并理解,段落中的支持句要按照特定的逻辑顺序进行排列,用合适的过渡词语与将各部分内容连接贯通起来。连贯性是指两个句子之间的平稳、顺畅、自然地过渡。过于突兀的跳跃会使读者迷惑,对文章可读性产生很大影响。只有句句承接自然,整个段落才是通顺的,前后相应,整个文章也是如此。在英语作文中,尤其要注意启、承、转、合类词语的运用,尽量做到句句自然,段段通顺,进而组段成章,将这篇文章形成语义连贯的整体。

根据意思和作用的不同,笔者在这里选用了几种过渡语为简单参考:

(一)被用作解释的过渡词语,例如:now,furthermore,in this case等等。

(二)用以表示强调语气的过渡词语如:indeed, above all,certainly, most important,surely等。

(三)用以表示举例的过渡词语:for instance,thus,such,next,for example等。

(四)用以表示限制的过渡词语:although,however,though,except for,but等。

(五)用以表示比较的过渡词语如in the same way,like,too等等。

(六)用于表示对比的过渡词语如unlike,in contrast,as,instead等等。

(七)用来表述结果的过渡词语:consequently,then,thereby,otherwise, as a result,therefore, thus等等。

(八)用于表示让步的过渡词although,of course,after all,still,yet等。

总结句对于段落来说也是非常重要的。这是对一段文章内容进行一句话形式的归纳总结。由于文章的内容是对主题句的具体阐明,因此结尾也需要对应于主题,文章结尾通常采用了结论性、后果性、号召性和建议性、结尾的方向性和结尾的意义性等形式。

因此可以说,好的段落离不开主题句、支持句和总结句三部分,更不能背离统一和连贯两大基本要素。

三、 句式的变化

一旦对写作失去信心,学生就不能随心所欲地使用其语言基础知识和句法知识,乃至束手束脚,最后导致整段文章句式无限重复、毫无起伏感,如一潭死水让人觉得无趣。在英语作文写作中,对句型结构的灵活使用是很重要的技巧。学生不仅要会用简单句型,对一些定、状语从句和名词性从句等复合句也要学会掌握。在句子中,分词和不定式的应用也十分广泛。另外还要适当地使用倒装、感叹等句型。

四、 句子结构和用词正确

在学生的写作中,混用、搭配不当和语句呆板的现象常常出现。对于这样的情况,学生需要刻苦学习基础知识,多掌握使用频率较高的词汇和短语,扩充词汇量,拓宽知识面。对词语的内在含义要加深理解,进一步掌握其具体应用的语境。对一些常用的句型也要熟记,在作文中,尽量使用自己熟悉的,比较有把握的句式。

结语:

以上是在本文提出的几点关于英语写作的小技巧,笔者希望能对学生的写作水平有所提高。但写作不能一蹴而就,它是一个长期渐进的过程,这更要求学生在平时要多做练习,多注意素材的积累,相信他们的写作水平会不断提高。

历年来,高考题中短文改错都是重要考试题型,也是高中英语教学重要组成部分,高中英语学习能够有效的测试学生的发现和改错能力,掌握一定的英语短文改错技巧十分重要,通过分析例句列出高中英语短文改错重要的策略供大家参考。高中英语短文常见的类型主要有动词形,名词数,区分形容词和副词,非谓动词细辨别,句子成分多分析,逻辑错误等等。

一、动词形

主要包括两类错误:动词的时态和语态错误,以及主、谓不一致的错误。例如:

My favorite sport are football. (is)

Now my picture and prize is hanging in the library. (are)

上述两例分别属于时态错误和主、谓不一致错误。找出此类错误的关键是树立牢固的时态概念,注意短文内容发生或存在的时间,保持时间概念的一致性。

二、名词数

指名词单、复数形式的用法错误。常表现为将名词复数写成单数。例如:so that I’ll get good marks in all my subject. (subjects)

三、区分形和副

及区分形容词和副词在句子中的作用和具体用法。这也是高考短文改错的常考点。例如:

I’m sure we’ll have a wonderfully time together. (Wonderful)

Unfortunate,there are too many people in my family. (Unfortunately)

需要注意的是,形容词多用来做定、表、补语等,而副词只能在句子中作状语,修饰动词、形容词、副词或整个句子。第一例中的wonderful作定语修饰time,第二句的Unfortunately作状语修饰整个句子。

四、非谓动词细辨别

这是考查最多的错误形式之一。主要有分词和动名词类错误,也包括不定式类错误。例如:

…in my spare time,but now I am interesting in football. (interested)

Play football not only makes us grow up tall and strong but also … (playing)

My parents love me… and will do all they can ∧ make sure… (to)

上述二、三例分别是动名词作主语,和不定式作目的状语。一般的,现在分词有主动态和进行时的含义,而过去分词具有被动态和完成时的含义,不定式有将来时态的含义。

五、习惯用法要记住

主要考查习惯搭配方面的基础知识。这也是历年高考的常考点,其错误表现形式主要有三种:多词、少词和搭配错误。例如:

It was very kind for them to meet me at the railway station and… (of)

We must keep in mind that we play for the team instead ∧ ourselves. (of)

六、句子成分多分析

不同的句子成分要用不同的词类;不同的语景要选择不同的词语。这些都有待我们对句子结构和句子成分作细致的分析,才能找出用词不当的错误。例如:

They ∧eager to know everything about China and… (were)

I live in Beijing,where is the capital of China. (which)

第一例漏掉了^语动词were,这是受害于习惯的影响而导致的错误;第二例则是词类与它在句子中的成分不相符,where是副词,不能作主语。

七、逻辑错误须关注

与句子的上、下文不一致,甚至相矛盾,属于逻辑性错误。如称谓上的张冠李戴,人名、地名、时间、方位等方面的错误,常是这类错误的考查对象。例如:

The Smiths did his best to make me feel at home. (their)

First,let me tell you something more about myself. (去掉more)

上述第一例中的主语是Smiths(史密斯夫妇俩),因此后面的his不合逻辑。第二例中的more在这儿表“再”的意思,才开始告诉别人,怎么能说“再告诉你一些事”?第三例讲的是为了解决看电视时的争端,“我们”把电视机卖了;晚上没电视看了,所以与从前一样,大家又都读书了,所以该用everyone。除了上述错误类型外,常考的错误形式还有:连词but,and,or和so的用法错误(可以归类为逻辑错误),以及冠词的用法错误等。

近年来高中阶段设置的短文改错可分为分行改错和不分行改错,大同小异,本文主要谈谈不分行改错,一般来说,短文改错题的短文也是小型作文,经常为记叙文。所选材料篇幅短,难度不大,但能够自成一体。学生平时在书面表达中常出现的错误也就是短文改错要考查的重点。主要设置错误的词性是冠词、名词、动词、形容词、副词、连词、介词;语法主要设置重点语法,如主谓一致,谓语的时态语态,各种从句等。下面笔者从学生经常出现的错误入手来谈谈学生做题应该掌握的基本方面:

一、掌握解题技巧

(1)把握整篇。首先要通读全文,在理解篇章的基础上逐句审读,分行分句判断,一般来说,冠词代词设置的错误,时态所设置的错误都要有整体意识。

(2)先易后难。通读全文,先做简单的有把握的,再认真分析似是而非的错误。

(3)做到胸有成竹。在做短文改错之前,心中应该知道改错所设置的错误都有哪些词性,哪些语法。一般来说,学生应该知道,同类的错误不会重复设置。

二、紧扣题目要求,严格按照要求的格式来做题

学生在短文改错中经常不按照所要求的格式做题,这也是失分的一部分原因,因为格式错误扣分显然可惜。短文改错答题方法有明确的规定,答题必须严格按所要求格式去做,多余的划掉(\)、漏掉的要添(∧),在下面写出改加的词、错误之处下画一横线,并在该词下面写出修改后的词。所以,学生应该按题要求做出增加、删除或修改。

三、搞清短文改错的考查点,运用所学英语语言知识或语法知识,逐句辨别正误,下面从词性的角度来分析常见错误:

1.冠词的运用是否恰当,a,an,the 经常混用,比如第一次出现的可数名词前应该用a或an, university前应该用a等。

2.名词的单数复数之间的混用。

3.代词的单复混用,男女混用,上下文指代一致原则。做短文改错时,对于短文中出现的每一个代词,都要查一下它所指代的内容,注意其数、格、词性是否正确和前后一致。如she用了he, they用了it, himself用了themselves, her用了hers, this用了these,等等,每类代词之间均有混用情况。
